Since 2022, we’ve been on a mission to strengthen the exceptional skill and determination of our Paralympians. From funding athletes to keeping them feeling happy and healthy, we’re helping them reach the top of their game.
But more than that, we’re here to inspire a nation of children and adults of all abilities. Pushing the idea of what’s possible further every single day, this includes supporting people on their own journeys. Helping them be healthy – emotionally and physically – on their way to personal glory.

We are #TeamHealth
In partnership with ParalympicsGB, our #TeamHealth series follows two people on very different, but equally important health journeys. Join proud mum, Julie, and thriving para-athlete, Emmanuel, as they embrace the importance of being a team and strive to achieve their personal bests over the next year.
In our second episode, mentor and decorated Paralympian, Richard Whitehead MBE, sets a breathtaking challenge to mark the beginning of their #TeamHealth journey.
See more from #TeamHealthI mean, I'm not afraid of heights, but I might be today.
We are all aiming for personal bests in life.
But whether you are aiming to become a Paralympic athlete, or getting fit in your fifties, there's always certain things you need to succeed.
Determination, effort.
But more importantly, the strength of a brilliant team behind you.
Two people have very different goals, but share a burning desire to take control of their physical and mental wellbeing over the next year.
and we're here to support and cheer them on.
Hi, I'm Richard Whitehead Paralympic gold medalist.
Together Bupa and ParalympicsGB are on a mission to make health a team sport for us all.
Welcome to Team Health.
Come on.
My name is Emmanuel Oyinbo-Coker.
I'm a para-athlete And I also mentor kids at primary schools.
I had a setback, so I didn't qualify for the Tokyo Games.
This year I need to qualify for the Paris 2024 Games and come back with a gold medal.
My health is important to me because staying in shape is the key to achieving success in my sport.
My biggest supporters are my mum, Olu, and my younger brother, Ayomide.
My name is Julie Vivash.
I'm a financial administrator at a Bupa Care Home.
My big goal is to get fit, to get healthier, to get my BMI down.
I want to do this now because I've always done things for other people and I think this is my time.
At 53.
My biggest supporters are my husband, my family, my children, and my best friend, Louise.
It's good to meet you.
Let's go.
I’m always a big fan of new challenges.
So, yeah.
Bit scared?
A little bit, you know, you've always got to have a little bit of that scared feeling, because you don’t know what to expect.
I'm anxious, but I'm going to love it.
Whatever we do, I'm going to love it.
The aim is as long as we both finish the challenge together.
That's the most important thing.
I'll help you if you help me.
I reckon it’s that.
What have we signed up for?
Oh, look.
That's pretty awesome.
Wow.
Are you a hugger?
I'm a hugger.
Absolutely.
Emmanuel, you’re definitely a hugger.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Welcome to the O2.
What are your first thoughts?
It's beautiful, actually.
It's high.
So today we're going to take on challenge, and this is going to be the start of your Team Health journey.
We're going to be going over to base camp and we're going to be climbing the O2.
Oh, my god.
Oh, this is steep.
This isn't going to be easy, but I'm not going to quit.
Oh my.
Oh.
It's amazing.

At Bupa, we’re always changing how we do things for the better. Becoming even more inclusive and championing difference. This starts with educating the future of tomorrow.
Twins Zach and Josh are on a journey to learn more about the Paralympics. Watch their Class of ParalympicsGB lessons as they talk disabilities and life experiences with medal hopefuls, as well as testing their own skills.
Watch Class of ParalympicsGBWould you guys ever do taekwondo?
It depends if it’s easy or hard.
I'll practice on him.
My mom says we're not allowed to punch and kick each other, but what if we told her that we were practicing our taekwondo?Umm...!
I don't want to get on the bad side of your mum.
I would listen to mum all the time and do it at a good gym, that can teach you the right way to do it and do it safely.
Hi, guys. You okay?
Yeah.
I'm Joe Lane. Paralympic taekwondo fighter.
Nice to meet you.
What's your guys’ name?
I’m Zach. I’m Josh.
He's Josh. I'm Zach.
Nice to meet you guys.
Nice to meet you too.
You can ask me anything you like guys.
What is taekwondo?
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art.
It's like one of the combat sports in the Paralympics.
Do you ever get injured?
Yeah, That's one of the biggest things. We do get injured a lot.
Luckily, we have Bupa to help us out when we do get injured to fix us.
Do you guys do any sports?
We like playing football.
Sometimes I play basketball with my friends. Nice.
Is there any tips you would give anyone who’d wanna start taekwondo?
I think that most people who start it would really enjoy it because it's something very different.
And just stick with it and try and enjoy it and don't be scared to, like, fall over and make mistakes.
Just give it your best and have fun.
What's your favourite moment in your career of doing it?
I would say winning the Europeans in Manchester with my family watching, That was probably my favourite moment.
Have you got any medals?
Yeah, I've got quite a few medals.
My favourite medal is probably my European Championship medal.
Behind that is probably my silver medal at the World Championships.
Where are the next Paralympics going to be taking place.
They're going to be taking place in 2024 in Paris.
Are you going to be competing in that?
Currently as it stands yeah, I'll be going.
A lot can change, but I should be there.
Hopefully.
Will you guys watch taekwondo in the next Paralympics?
Yes.
I’ll watch it, yeah.
Thanks.
Will you teach us some?
Yeah, of course.

Charlotte Coburn, Admin Assistant for Bupa UK, is an aspiring Paralympian hoping to compete as a rower at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
What started as a joke at a CrossFit class is on the verge of becoming reality. We’re following Charlotte’s progress as she aims to rise above limitations and achieve her dream.
Meet CharlotteHi, I'm Charlotte Coburn.
I am a rower and I work on the Business Continuity team at Bupa.
Charlotte’s doing really, really well.
So she joined us in September.
She's kind of turned up day one, willing to work really hard and really willing to get stuck into the squad.
As a person she's a competitor, be that on the rowing machine, be that in the weights room, be that on the water, she's a natural born competitor.
This morning I woke up at 5:50am, whereas other mornings I have to get up at like 4:55am!
In the winter the one bit of weather we don't want to wake up to is probably fog because it means that we just can't go out at all.
Rain isn't the best, ice isn't the best, snow isn’t the best, but if it's foggy we’ll definitely not go out.
Charlotte’s paralympic quest is definitely achievable.
I think she's on a really, really exciting journey and I think she's improving rapidly.
She's performed really well through the winter on the rowing machine.
She's got to submit tests to be GB rowing and everything she's done so far has been a big PB (personal best), which is a really good sign of her progression.
Charlotte was invited on a recent training camp with the Paralympics squad which went really well.
So that link has already been formed and it's now just pushing Charlotte to be of the standard to go to the Paralympics and win.
So if she wants to make it into the boat, she's got to be Paralympic gold medal standard, rather than just the standard of getting into the boat.
The training is going really well at the moment.
I'm getting lots of PBs on the rowing machine.
Today though my strap did actually break on the water, so we need to fix that before the next session.
It's quite amazing what she's able to do.
She has not been treated differently in any way, shape or form and nor do I think she'd want to be.
There's been no even sense of people even noticing.
I think that's been really, really enjoyable to watch how normal it has been, and so it should be.
I don't see myself as really having an impairment.
It's been about adapting to find different ways to do things, but eventually I just end up doing them similar to how everyone else does.
Charlotte is valued on how good she is at rowing first and foremost, and how much she adds to the culture of the club, rather than anything different because of her Paralympic ambitions.
I think the athlete that we've got now in Charlotte and these last couple of months is a real step on from where she was in September, both on and off the water, which is exciting to see.
I think she's really enjoying her journey so far this year and we're also really enjoying being part of it.
We're really, really happy with how she's doing at the moment.
